In Government, National has a plan for housing in New Zealand:
First, we are Going for Housing Growth. This policy involves freeing up land for development and removing unnecessary planning barriers, improving infrastructure funding and financing, and providing incentives for communities and councils to support growth.
Second, we are making improvements to the rental market to make it easier to be a landlord, and easier to be a tenant.
Third, we are making changes to building and construction to improve competition and lower building costs.
Fourth we are building better social housing to look after those who need support.
Fifth we are reforming the Resource Management Act, with property rights at the centre.
